MAIN LIBRARY

Proceeds to benefit Children's Room and Museum Pass programs
There are always some books available for sale at both the Main Library and the Endicott branch. We keep an ongoing rotation of both adult and children's books for sale every day.
However, there are special sale days where all the books are available.
Our next book sale will be listed on the calendar, posted on the library bulletin boards,
and listed in our events newsletter (see calendar page for details on how to subscribe).
What happens to the money from the book sales?
The Friends of the Dedham Public Library take donated and withdrawn library books and sell them to the public for very low rates. The money raise from these sales goes directly to library projects without the usual processes that is often a result of being a public institution.
For example, the Friends helped pay for the very software that created this new website, the programs for the Children's Room, and the museum passes. So, your donations can help us with fantastic new projects.
How do I donate books? What are you looking for?
When you donate books to the library, sometimes we use them in the collection; sometimes they're too old; sometimes they're copies we already have.
But, it's actually a good thing to have your donated books go to the Friends - it means the library gets money for projects from you books!
After you bring in your books, a librarian looks at each one and decides if it has a place in the collection. Then they either go to processing and into the stacks, or to the Friends, who give the book a price based on its age and condition.
To donate, simply bring your clean books to the Main Library any time we're open.
While we are grateful for donations, we do not want donations of old encyclopedias, textbooks, dirty or moldy books, or computer books more than two years old. |
