DATABASES
What's a database? How is it different from the internet?
A database is not the same as searching the internet. Anyone can post anything to the internet, unlike databases which are most often scholarly, monitored sources of information. Databases are usually online versions of print materials, such as journal articles online - not just any random person's website.
Can I use the databases at home?
Some yes, some no. To see which of the Minuteman databases you can use at home,
follow this link and use your Minuteman card to log in. For our databases, use the link
at the end of each description as well as your card.
Which database should I use?
Unfortunately, unlike the internet, you can't search every database at once.
Try suggested links below with your keywords - and don't be afraid to ask a librarian for help by calling (781) 751-9287 or 9288.
