FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY
The Friends and Trustees of the Dedham Public Library are, together, the people who ensure the library has vision and leadership (the Trustees) and inspiration and support (the Friends).
The Friends of the Dedham Public Library is a non-profit group that promotes and stimulates the use of the library's resources and services. This organization supports and cooperates with the library in developing services and facilities for the community.
What do the Friends do to raise money?
They have membership drives, book sales, solicit corporate sponsors, and handle bequests and private donations.
Where does the money go?
The money raised by the Friends is very important to the Library because it is flexible and used for services that the patrons see and use frequently. For example, the Friends pay for almost all the programs in the Children's Room, the museum passes, and the software that created this new website.
What do the Friends do other than raise money?
They love the library, and work to encourage awareness of library programs and services, volunteer for special events and projects, provide and serve refreshments at special library functions, and anything else that the library may need.
How can I join the Friends?
Easy - just ask! You can contribute with either time or money. To donate, just send the bottom portion of this form (or your name, address, and preferably an email address) to:
The Friends of the Dedham Public Library
43 Church Street
Dedham, MA 02026
To find out more about helping, email the friends at friends@dedhamlibrary.org.
When is the next book sale? Do you need books?
We have a whole page devoted to book sales! Please see the Book Sales page and the library's calendar for more details.
The function of this organization shall be limited to charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Sect. 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
